Valuing Skills of Beneficiaries of International Protection

The Skills2Work project aimed to promote early and sustainable employment of refugees in improved support on skills validation and integration service provision as well as strengthened private sector engagement. The project was implemented in nine EU Member States including Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain and the United Kingdom. The project achieved its main objective through the following components:

  • Strengthening skill validation and early job-matching of refugees, based on existing good practices and national stakeholders’ consultations.
  • Facilitate coordination, referral and access to job integration services for refugees by developing guidelines for designing policies to strengthen the labour market integration of refugees in the EU.
  • Fostering employer awareness on skills of beneficiaries of international protection by showcasing success stories of skill-based job-matching and facilitating professional networking between employers from key sectors and potential candidates among refugees.

Skills2Work was implemented by IOM in partnership with Društvo Odnos in Slovenia, Leone Moressa Foundation in Italy, Menedék in Hungary, African Young Professional Network in the Netherlands, Radboud University in the Netherlands and Foundation for Refugee Students – UAF in the Netherlands.

The project was funded by the European Union’s Asylum Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and ran from 2016 to 2018.
