IOM at the Ministerial Conference on “Health in the Mediterranean”
5 November 2014 - IOM participated in the “Health in the Mediterranean” Ministerial Conference on October 27th and 28th in Rome where Migration and Health was addressed in one of the four thematic session and policy panels.
Findings from the IOM EQUI HEALTH situational analysis at the Southern EU Borders were presented and IOM promoted equity in health services for migrants, the importance of transnational cooperation and also called upon MS to support efforts to recruit health personnel to be deployed in West Africa as one of the urgent responses needed to help to stop the Ebola outbreak.
The conference was organized by the Italian Ministry of Health and co funded by DG Health and Consumers. Italian Minister of Health, Mrs. Beatrice Lorenzin welcomed IOM’s Davide Mosca, Director of the IOM HQ MHD and Federico Soda, IOM Italy, Director of the Coordination Office for the Mediterranean.
