One of IOM’s fundamental partners in humanitarian aid is the EU Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO). Its funding is important on several levels, including the number of projects, geographical footprint and funding level.
IOM projects funded by ECHO cover a wide range of emergency interventions in crisis affected countries, including:
- Shelter, camp coordination & camp management (CCCM)
- Displacement tracking matrix (DTM)
- Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
- Health and Protection
We assist mainly internally displaced persons, but we also include refugees, migrants at large and host communities in our activity.
In our region, we provide direct humanitarian support to stranded migrants in Greece.
