From June 2014 to August 2019 the Africa, Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP)-EU Migration Action has supported activities in the areas of strategic interest to the ACP-EU Dialogue on Migration and Development on visas, remittances, readmission, trafficking in human beings and smuggling of migrants.
The ACP-EU Migration Action has provided technical assistance following the requests from ACP governments and ACP Regional Organizations as well as grants to ACP-based non-state actors to promote civil society’s initiatives.
The wide range of activities we implemented can be considered as an example of the vitality and timeliness of the discussion around migration and the diverse migration management needs in ACP countries and ACP regions.
In the framework of the Action, the outcomes of the activities were further elaborated into knowledge and information products such as - but not exclusively - thematic publications and papers, knowledge pieces, peer-to-peer and regional thematic meetings. These products aimed at further disseminating information and enriching the discussions of the ACP-EU Dialogue on Migration and Development.
Thanks to the presence of IOM in several ACP countries, the Action’s activities were initiated in close partnership with the ACP counterparts. Being the Action entirely demand-driven, stakeholders had complete ownership of each initiative, from the development throughout the implementation phases. This approach created greater opportunities for the long-term sustainability of the outcomes of each initiative promoted by the ACP-EU Migration Action.
Our work also strived to reinforce regional and intra-regional exchanges and partnership: we constantly relied on the expertise and experience of migration experts mainly from the same countries and regions. The South-South trait of the Action was also promoted through the organization of technical meetings between experts and national stakeholders from the same regions.
The ACP -EU Migration Action has come to a close in August 2019 but you can still read all ACP-EU Migration Action activities, publications and information on the dedicated website.
